It'd be good for that non-speaking person going down to the Dominican Republic, if they weren't very fluent in Spanish, at least to learn the basic words or phrases they might need to use like 'good morning,' 'good night,' 'good afternoon,' 'please,' 'thank you,' and 'welcome.' Your basic phrases that would come across as the person trying to interact with somebody from a different language.
