“I was pretty much not too aware of what I was doing in the beginning, but as I spent more time with them I learned more about their culture and what dos and don’ts. And that foot part, not showing the bottom of your foot is one thing. Chewing gum. We’ve had a couple soldiers here who spit tobacco, that’s one thing you don’t do, which is pretty much common in the U.S. Armed Forces. So you have those little things you just cannot do in front of them. They’ll find it quite disrespectful. And sometimes you just don’t know that.”
