When we join the Army, we understand that using force is part of our job. Might makes right is a phrase we all grew up with. But might will not solve every problem. We learn during combatives that a greater force doesn't always mean a greater impact. Force is not the same as impact. Understanding culture can be one of the most powerful weapons you use to neutralize a threat. Your understanding of culture can turn a potential adversary into a valued ally. Culture matters.
