Second Civil War in Liberia

Video Transcript

“The civil war is still there, yes. Memories of the civil war are still very, very alive because of the destruction, not only material destruction but psychological destruction as well. If you talk to even Liberians who are here in the U.S., who fled the war and are now resident here in the U.S., you’d be surprised at what they say, oh yes. They are still affected, at least psychologically up to today, that we talk. If I were to advise any of our brothers or sisters, I mean an American who was visiting Liberia; be very careful the way you talk about the war, the civil war. Because these are memories that some of them want to [be] reminded of.”

In this video, a Liberian expert discusses the effects of the Second Civil War in Liberia.
