"The currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian pound. The cost of living there is, from our point of view, not bad. But for them, for the average Egyptian, it’s hard to make ends meet. And, of course, it depends on where you are. When you’re in Cairo, and you’re in the rich section of Cairo, things are expensive. The products that are there are typically Western style products and things like that. You go to other sections of Cairo, where it’s not so rich or affluent, things don’t cost the same but the selection isn’t the same either. The Egyptian pound is what they use there."

In this video, a military service member discusses the currency and standard of living in Egypt.
