The staple diet of Nepal is basically rice served with lentil soup and some vegetables which are either cooked in water or oil, fried. That’s the staple for most of the people. Even the well-to-do people and ordinary folks. There are some variations like, if you go to the hilly regions, they have a different staple. It’s a wheat flour with water and it’s called “tiro.” I don’t know, I couldn’t compare it. It’s something like mashed potatoes, or something like that. It’s basically like wheat flour. That’s a staple, taken with the lentil soup or other type of soup.
