Cultural identities are complex. All of us are members of many different subcultures within a larger culture. We bring all of our subcultures into the Army with us. All of those subcultures have different norms and expectations of acceptable behavior. Some of our daily norms and behaviors change when we deploy, but we still keep our core values with us when we're away from home. Each person is a collection of many subcultures. Culture matters.
