Northern African Cities

Video Transcript

You have Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, where I see a lot of similarities. They are three countries that were occupied by [the] French, obviously, for a hundred years. If you look at these three countries, particularly [the] big cities, they are still French cities. Most of the infrastructure in those cities, Oran, Constantine, Annaba, Algiers, Rabat, Casablanca, Tunis, are French. Streets are French, you see those trees, you see those parks, you see it's French. It means [the] French, they planned to stay there forever. And in their minds, those countries, they were French countries and they were staying. So they have invested a lot in also trying to change people's culture, mind, and social structure. And you see it until now.

In this video, an Algerian national discusses the French cultural influence in Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.
