Culture Matters: Why
[Narrator to Child 1] All right, give me a hug. Okay, have a good day. Okay.
[Narrator] There is a word on the lips of every child I've ever met. It is the foundation of learning. A concept in every child's mind.
[Child 1] Why are these different?
[Child 2] I have no idea.
[Narrator] Why: This is how a child asks for clarification about the rules, reasons, and events that don't make sense.
[Child 1] Why are these different?
[Teacher] Well, because different people wear different things.
[Narrator] It's the same word you can use to understand new cultures. It's the word that worked for you when you were first learning your own culture.
[Child 1] It's okay that they're different.
[Narrator] You already know how to learn about new culture. Start by asking why. Culture matters.
