Geography of Benin

Video Transcript

“In terms of geography, Benin is a pretty skinny country land-wise and it has a lot of area going north to south. The area in the South is pretty tropical, almost. It has a lot of rain and it’s pretty green and lush. And as you go further north, it gets more arid, more dry, to where in the North you’re pretty much in the Sahel, almost transitioning into desert. So you get a lot of different landscapes in the country even though it’s pretty small. In the South they have two rainy seasons where in the North they just have one. The rainy season’s pretty strong from about June to September, and then Harmattan starts in about December and goes till February.”

In this video, a Beninese expert discusses the country's geography.
