Greetings in Haiti

Video Transcript

In Haiti people generally greet each other in French, regardless of class, actually. Bonjour," "bon soir." They enter the village and they say "bon soir monsieur-dame," which is good afternoon or good evening ladies and gentlemen. And it is absolutely essential that you say that otherwise they'll peg you as rude. So you want to make sure you at least say 'good evening, good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.'

In this video, a native Haitian describes the greetings in her country.
