Greetings in Nepal

There are certain universal rules of just respect and courtesy that apply no matter where you are, regardless with whom you are dealing. Speaking specifically to Nepal, it is customary when greeting put your hands together, bow slightly, and say, "namaste." it is also perfectly okay to smile and shake hands. There's really no taboo against that at all.
