Infrastructure in Niger
“Niger has a huge problem, sanitation problem with the uranium, and also a problem of trust because France or the French company who are exploiting the uranium in Niger [promised] ‘We will build infrastructures; roads, clinics, and schools for the local people.’ Guess what? Roads were built, everybody can use the roads. Schools were built and clinics were built, but only people working on site have access to the clinics and have access to the schools. People from the village next door cannot send their kids to those schools. People from the village next door cannot attend those clinics. But they were promised that ‘If you guys give us this bid, we’ll build infrastructures; roads, electricity, running water. We’ll [build] schools and hospitals for you.’ None of this is happening besides the roads.”
