Travel and Transportation in the Dominican Republic

Video Transcript

It's nothing similar to driving [in] the U.S. in the Dominican Republic. They have a saying stop at green and go on red because  that's what the other person is doing. You have to be very careful since, for example these drivers for public transportation, they  don't respect your lane. They'll come in and out just to pick up a passenger. And traffic lights are merely a decoration over there  sometimes. Only on the main avenues, they're respected, but on inner streets, they're not. Same thing with stop signs. People don't  respect them either. So you always have to be aware when driving there.

In this video, a Dominican American describes the way locals drive.
